Mukherjee’s deep understanding of rural art manifests itself in his canvasses and his sculptures, both in his employment of medium, and in the way he uses flora and fauna as imagery. His fascination with folk-art led him to experiment with forms and concepts. He researches his medium before working with it, be it tempera on stretched cloth, mixed metals, terracotta or stoneware.
